Machine Bridge

Another little bit of trivia from Fortuna's Deadly Shadow. I make mention of the Machine Bridge. The picture attached is the best I've got. There is now a 'double bridge'. The new one is the grey structure, the original is supported by the stone pillars that you can see. Why the Machine Bridge? Because Iron was fetched down from Aberdare by canal, offloaded close to the bridge, which had a weighing machine on it. Then it was put onto horse-drawn trams and taken to the tin-plate works further South.

  This time a location from Sabrina's Teardrop (credit to Barry Jennings for the photo). It's Princess Street, #shrewsbury where May visits the YWCA. Incidentally, whilst I'm at it, you may recall that the book features a dog called a Boerboel. I came across the breed during my research but I'd never actually seen one in real life. Well, 2 weeks ago I came across a dog that was half Boerboel, half Corso. A massive beast but more likely to drown you in drool than savage you. One thing was certain, if the dog decided to launch itself, the owner wouldn't have had a hope in hell of stopping it. Thankfully this one seem to have been blessed with a soppy gene.
