n my first book in particular I have mentioned the names of a number of real public figures from 1890s Pontypridd. One of them was Mrs Miles who owned the New Inn. A remarkable businesswoman, she is buried in the graveyard of St Mary's, Treforest which also features in Fortuna's Deadly Shadow.   This time a location from Sabrina's Teardrop (credit to Barry Jennings for the photo). It's Princess Street, #shrewsbury where May visits the YWCA. Incidentally, whilst I'm at it, you may recall that the book features a dog called a Boerboel. I came across the breed during my research but I'd never actually seen one in real life. Well, 2 weeks ago I came across a dog that was half Boerboel, half Corso. A massive beast but more likely to drown you in drool than savage you. One thing was certain, if the dog decided to launch itself, the owner wouldn't have had a hope in hell of stopping it. Thankfully this one seem to have been blessed with a soppy gene.
