 Q. we've all heard of nasty Dr Crippen who murdered his wife. But who reported to the police that she was missing?

A. Her friend, Body builder and strongwoman "Vulcana" from Abergavenny. Born Kate Williams she began her career aged 18 in 1892, in London with her partner who billed as Atlas. She was awarded over a hundred medals in her career, The picture is from the front page of a French body building magazine.

  This time a location from Sabrina's Teardrop (credit to Barry Jennings for the photo). It's Princess Street, #shrewsbury where May visits the YWCA. Incidentally, whilst I'm at it, you may recall that the book features a dog called a Boerboel. I came across the breed during my research but I'd never actually seen one in real life. Well, 2 weeks ago I came across a dog that was half Boerboel, half Corso. A massive beast but more likely to drown you in drool than savage you. One thing was certain, if the dog decided to launch itself, the owner wouldn't have had a hope in hell of stopping it. Thankfully this one seem to have been blessed with a soppy gene.
