  I haven't done a 'scene from the book' for a while. There are a few in hand but I've decided to go with a view of Park Street as it is today. The photo was taken from the footbridge of Treforest Station.

  This t used to be the Butchers Arms which features in Fortuna's Deadly Shadow. If you look closely, it's former name is still shown just below the roof.  

  Unashamedly for my own indulgence, I've moved a selection of photos from past events (not all of them) onto this one post for me to look back on.       

  Q. we've all heard of nasty Dr Crippen who murdered his wife. But who reported to the police that she was missing? A. Her friend, Body builder and strongwoman "Vulcana" from Abergavenny. Born Kate Williams she began her career aged 18 in 1892, in London with her partner who billed as Atlas. She was awarded over a hundred medals in her career, The picture is from the front page of a French body building magazine.

  I might have posted the picture before but this has now been wonderfully colourised by Roger Cheesman. For those unfamiliar with #pontypridd it is the Tumble junction as featured in most of the Inspector Chard Mysteries, or at least the central part of it. The Clarence pub is in the background. There were at least 6 pubs directly on the junction with more just a short distance away
